Alternative Therapies & Spa is fortunate to have an owner that is a licensed Physical Therapist and is highly trained to
provide Dry Needling.
Dry Needling is the use of a very fine needle inserted into a muscle to break up muscle spasms that are interfering with function. The Therapist positions the needle to disrupt the location of a very specific trigger point that is causing your muscle dysfunction
and/or pain cycle to continue.

Are Dry Needling and Acupuncture the Same?
No. The main difference between the two techniques is what drives the decision about where the needle will be positioned. Acupuncture needles are inserted along traditional Eastern Energy pathways. Dry needling uses current Western Medicine Principles and research to map and guide where the trigger point areas are that are interfering with healing.
Will it hurt?
Most people describe the sensation of the needle insertion as a small, brief pinch. The needles used are very thin and smaller than used for an injection. The local twitch response within the muscle ususally does create a “less than a second long” cramp or electrical shocking sensation. This response confirms for the Therapist that the needle was inserted into the correct irritable location. The twitch is actually a good indicator that the Needling will help.
Are the Needles Sterile?
Yes. The Therapist uses sterile needles from a sealed packet and then disposes of them after use.
